There are many advantages to a dual language program. Improving cognitive skills, problem-solving skills and switching between tasks are just some of the benefits proven by science.
The French dual language program was developed based on a fundamental belief that this proven benefit of dual language education should be available to everyone and offered in the public school system.
The French language is spoken by over 300 million worldwide and is the official language of 29 countries spanning from North America to Africa, the Caribbean, the Middle East and everything in between. Our curriculum is structured to celebrate and appreciate not only the French language, but the inherent diversity that comes along with the culture.
We aim to create a warm and nurturing environment where preschoolers can learn a second language at a critical time in their cognitive development. We are proud to say that our program attracts students from many different cultural backgrounds and we strive to encourage the children to share their native cultures and develop mutual respect.
We are so pleased to be able to offer this program to our families. Most of all, we are proud of the international community that the program has brought together and the positive impact it will have on all the children.
What to expect:
At the East 76th street Pre-K Center French dual language program you can expect your child to acquire the French language through classroom immersion. The model is a 50/50 of French and English. It will follow the Pre-K curriculum delineated by the New York City Department of Education.
The children will learn both languages in a nurturing and warm environment through books, art projects, instruction and playtime.
